Fiberglass Parshall Flume

Jacobs’ flumes are made of fiberglass reinforced polyester resins laid up over white isophthalic gel-coat. They are of a rigid one piece construction, self supporting. Flumes are designed for metering liquids in gravity flow pipelines, open channels and other applications as required.

Designed especially for measuring liquids. Smooth surface and accurate dimensions give accurate flow measurements. Flumes have integral reinforcing ribs and extruded FRP anchor clips provided to help secure unit in concrete.

Fiberglass Flume Features

  • Molded one piece construction.
  • Corrosion resistant.
  • Easy installation, light weight, high strength, flumes are heavily ribbed for free standing installations, they may be also installed as liners in concrete.
  • Rugged construction, all flumes have a 2" flange on ends and top.
  • Jacobs Manufacturing builds Parshall Flumes, Cutthroat Flumes, Parmer-Bowlus Flumes, H-Flumes, and various sizes of approach sections, flumes range in sizes from 2" to 10\' throat widths.

Gel-Coat and Surface Coat

All gel coats and surface coating are a chemical resistant neopentyl glycol based polyester resin Gel-Coat and Surface Coat resin. Pigments are selected for their long term weatherability in corrosive applications.

Fiberglass Reinforcement:

Fiberglass reinforcement of the outer laminate shall consist of three plies of 1-1/2 ounce per foot chopped strand mat. The inner laminate shall consist of two plies of 1-1/2 ounce per foot chopped mat.

Lamination Resin:

The laminating resin is a rigid orthophthalic polyester, suitable for use in corrosive conditions.

Insulation

Modified polyisocyanurate rigid foam, one inch thick, shall be used throughout as insulation. Our Insulation has a K-factor of .14 BTU in/hr/ft/F degree, R-6.06 per inch rating. The insulation is completely encapsulated in FRP.

A molded fiberglass flume shall be furnished and installed in the flume channel. The flume shall be a one piece, self -supporting unit fabricated of fiberglass reinforced polyester resin containing no less than 30% glass fiber. The laminate to be uniformly layed up over white isophthalic gel-coat and be no less than the 3/16" inch thick. The flow surfaces to be satin smooth and the unit to have a throat width of (_____) inches.

Flume shall be provided with reinforcing ribs, mounting clips shall be molded to the exterior surface for anchoring the flume in place. Flume will have a 2" wide flange all around the perimeter.

Flume shall be manufactured by Jacobs Manufacturing Corporation, Grove, Oklahoma. If a remote stilling well is to be used for flow measurement, A 2" inch NPT threaded fitting shall be provided on either side for a pipe connection to the stilling well.
